| In 1966 I was among the first class of Cabrillo High students. My dad was stationed at Vandenburg and we moved before the school was actually built. But that year we had double classes at Lompoc High. Reciently I visited the area for the first time since then and went back to Lompoc, but didn't get the chance to visit Cabrillo High School. First of all I would like to extend a very sincere appreciation and thank you to Janis Bowers (Baldassano) and David Heinz for all the time, effort, and passion they put into a very fun and memorable reunion this past weekend. It was so fantastic to reconnect with past friends, and to catch up on everyone's lives and see their wonderful families at Sunday's barbecue. As Janis mentions on the home page, we're working on a DVD to offer to our classmates, which will include the slide show featured at Saturday evening's dinner dance. I hope I'm not the only person still pondering what to wear to the dinnerdance. :) Although I will be sending out a reminder e-mail a little later I wanted to comment here about the change to the deadline for the Aquarium Tour. I need to let the Director know first thing Monday morning* if we have enough people to do the tour and realized I could give everyone till Sunday night to RSVP. (*The school year ends this coming Thursday for Cabrillo and they need to arrange for student volunteers before school is out) Also, if you are thinking about ordering a Reunion T-Shirt remember you must order by June 10th. | Conqheads (and Redbud, too): I'm not sure that I'll be out for the reunion this time -- summer is already filling up with a lot of activities and visits from family and friends. Here's an update on me: living in Staunton, VA; married to Karen Risch (CHS class of 1983); work as a graphic designer, furniture maker and a church music director (see mottopia.com for more details); produced two church-based albums of mostly original praise music since 1997 (one in San Diego, the other here in VA -- see www.IncredibleJourney.org); actively play bass trombone with a professional trombone ensemble called "Mr. Jefferson's Bones"; and since the last national election (or day of mourning for some of us) I have become a pain in the butt to my "blue state legislators" who are trying to force scary permanent conservative change in our nation's politics (not to mention raping the environment as they go along their merry way.) My favorite current bumper sticker quote is, "Has it been four years yet?" That's about it for now. Hope you all are well and loving life. If I can be there, I will. Peace. --RM | |||
